ABOUT THE DEBATE PARTICIPANTS:

Maciej Cieślak (Association of Polish Art Photographers)
He holds a PhD in physics and is a photographer passionate about combining technology with creativity. A member of the Association of Polish Art Photographers, he views photography as a way to explore the world and tell stories.
His work has been exhibited in numerous solo exhibitions. In 2024, he received a distinction from the International Photography Awards (IPA) in the “Special AI Generated Images / Professionals” category, announced for the first time in this competition.
He is also a laureate of the National Geographic Polska 2010 contest and the international IPA contests in 2017 and 2018. Additionally, he is the author of the photographs for the book “Ah, the Scent! A Guide to the Fantastic World of Smells” (Buchmann, 2023).
He lives and works in Warsaw.
Kamil Głowacki (Just Edit)
A humanist who has long been interested in photography as a fundamental social activity. Through in-depth interviews with photographers, he has sought to answer the question: why is photography important both for those who practice it professionally and for those who want a moment of their story captured.
His experience working at a university in project management helps him seek optimization in every field he engages in. Currently, implementing AI support in his company—for photo post-production as well as creating complete images using generative models—has become the next step in optimization, while also serving as a starting point for numerous discussions on the future of AI in the creative industry.
As a photographer, he has worked for organizations such as MONOPOLIS, Polska Grupa Farmaceutyczna, Dell, BMI Polska, ABB, Ernst & Young, JLL, TVP 3, University of Łódź, and TOP 500 Innovators.
Together with his wife Kaja, he co-founded the brand JUSTedit, which allows both individual users and professional photographers to commission photo retouching or album design. Although the brand is new, its client portfolio already includes projects for Jeronimo Martens, Carrefour, UPC, PEKAO, Deichmann, as well as numerous photojournalists.
He enjoys sharing his knowledge, an approach appreciated by companies such as PRO Stuff and Calibrite. All these initiatives are grounded in social sciences and a passion for socially engaged photography.

Łukasz Sowa (Academy of Image)
For two decades, with a camera in hand, he has sought the truth about people, exploring the magic of portraiture—from the psychology of perception to its conscious, commercial use. He formally began this journey with studies at the prestigious Institute of Creative Photography in Opava.
Today, in the era of digital transformation, his journey has gained new momentum. He consciously integrates artificial intelligence into his practice—not as a substitute for creativity, but as a powerful enhancer. He treats it as a natural stage of evolution, another “brush” for expressing what matters most.
Understanding the profound changes awaiting the photography industry inspired him to create the Academy of Image (www.akademiaobrazu.pl). It is more than a school; it is a space dedicated to helping creators navigate the new reality. Here, he teaches conscious and responsible image-making, fostering works that carry deeper meaning and real value—whether for art or business.
Krzysztof Ślachciak (Faculty of Architecture, Poznań University of Technology AND Association of Polish Art Photographers)
Visual artist, PhD in Art, curator, and lecturer, serving as the chair of the Artificial Intelligence Team at the Association of Polish Art Photographers’ Main Board. He is the author of scientific and popular-science texts on photography, as well as the artbook More Likely, We Are Not Exceptional. He has participated in over 100 photography exhibitions and events.
He teaches at the Faculty of Architecture at Poznań University of Technology, where he leads a Photography studio. His research interests focus on the semantics of photographic images and their relationship with space. He is the author of the Native Features of Photography concept.
In his creative practice, he defines photography as always subjective—a recorded projection of a fragment of reality. Working at the intersection of understanding the medium, he creates syntheses of photographs and photograms, projections, and photographic objects. His work explores the human place in relation to nature and the cosmos, drawing on his interests in cosmology and astrophysics.
