ABOUT THE ARTIST:
I started photographing as a teenager, using it as a way to find myself within a very conservative society – in Italy. Art gave me the space for self-discovery, for asking questions about our shared human nature and emotions.
At the age of 19, I moved out of the apartment I shared with my mentally ill mother and relocated to Copenhagen, where I attended Fatamorgana – the Danish School of Art and Documentary Photography. During that time, I also worked as a studio assistant and darkroom technician for Jacob Aue Sobol. After finishing my studies, I spent four months traveling through Russia. Today, that journey is told in the book Tell My Love Now.
Later, I worked at the New York office of Magnum Photos, where I managed to raise funds for a new project in Mexico, where I spent ten months.
After returning to Denmark, I became a mother of two. At the same time, I took on the role of artistic director for my husband, Jacob Aue Sobol. In 2024, I published Tell My Love Now, which was nominated for several international awards.
Together with my husband, we continue to create new projects while raising our children on a small island in southern Denmark.
