MICHAEL ACKERMAN (Israel / USA / Germany)

Michael Ackerman was born in 1967 in Tel Aviv-Yafo. As a child, he and his parents moved to New York. He’s been taking photos since he was a student. His favourite themes are urban peripheries and people who live there. During the last 20 years he has changed his address multiple times, he was doing various works, and he has cooperated with musicians, film-makers and travelled constantly. It led him to the USA, France, Poland, Italy, Cuba and Mexico. He also visited India a few times, and the photos which presented an overpopulated and cluttered city of Varanasi (also called Benares) created his first photo album which he named End Time City.
